Abstract
Viviamo immersi in un reale in continua trasformazione: le nuove tecnologie e il rapporto tra digitale e individuale creano un universo in cui il soggetto deve continuamente adattarsi e adattare il proprio intorno per comprendere il mondo ed esprimersi. È in questa logica che si inserisce Transformers, il volume che accompagna l’omonima mostra a cavallo tra arte e design presso il MAXXI di Roma.

Quattro artisti provenienti da quattro nazioni e realtà diverse esprimono tramite le loro opere il loro punto di vista sulla mutevolezza contemporanea, tematica declinata di volta in volta come fluidità, armonia o caos. Choi Jeong Hwa, Martino Gamper, Pedro Reyes e Didier Fiuza Faustino sono trasformatori: armi diventano strumenti musicali suonati da un’orchestra, sedie vengono realizzate con tessuti fatti a mano, in un percorso in cui il pubblico è soggetto attivo, stimolato a vivere in maniera “altra” e non convenzionale gli spazi espositivi.We live immersed in a reality of constant transformation: new technologies and the evolving relationship between the digital and the individual have created a world in which people must continuously adapt—and reshape their surroundings—in order to understand the world and express themselves. It is within this context that Transformers, the publication accompanying the exhibition of the same name at MAXXI in Rome, situated at the intersection of art and design, takes shape. Four artists from four different countries and cultural backgrounds explore the fluid nature of contemporary life through their works, interpreting this theme in terms of fluidity, harmony, or chaos. Choi Jeong Hwa, Martino Gamper, Pedro Reyes, and Didier Fiuza Faustino are "transformers": weapons are turned into musical instruments performed by an orchestra, chairs are created from handwoven textiles, and visitors become active participants in an exhibition that encourages them to experience the museum spaces in unconventional and unexpected ways.
